Gael Monfils and Felix Auger-Aliassime will both participate in the tournament's semifinal after hard fought victories.
Monfils continued his impressive form at the ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament as he beat Daniel Evans 7-6(5), 6-2. The victory extends Monfils' winning streak in Rotterdam to seven matches.
Evans started well and had a 5-4 lead. He then struggled to make a first serve and Monfils found his way back into the game and led 4/1 in the tie-break. The Englishman fought back and won four straight points. But Monfils finally got his first set win at 5-5 when Evans made an error.
The second set was less dramatic and the current world no 9 sealed his victory with a 6-2 win. Monfils will either play Andrey Rublev or Filip Krajinovic in the semifinal.
Auger-Aliassime beat Aljaz Bedene 6-4, 7-6(6) over one hour and 51 minutes. It wasn't the Canadian's best showing but he got the job done and got into the semifinal.
The 19-year-old saved a set point at 6-5 in the second set tie break. Auger-Aliassime hit 22 winners and became the first Canadian to reach the semifinal of the Rotterdam Open since Milos Raonic in 2015.
He will now face Pablo Carreno Busta in the semifinal.
