Andy Murray is not done with tennis this year as the Brit will play in Gijon to try and get some points for next year.
In June, Murray admitted that one of his goals is to gather enough points to become a seeded player at grand slams and while he was not able to do it for the US Open he wants to do it for the Australian Open. To be in contention for that, Murray needs to boost his rankings.
Murray is currently ranked in the top 50 albeit not good enough to be a seed at grand slam events so his acceptance of the Gijon Open wild card is mostly to try and improve his ranking. He had some solid matches this year indoors however it's not at the level he is capable of playing.
At least not according to Murray. The field is a solid one albeit not a superb one so Murray will definitely have a chance to for some wins.
