Andy Murray has tied Tommy Haas for getting the most wild cards since 1990 after he got one more for the Dubai tennis event coming up.
Murray's name was once in the news for the wrong reasons as the British player was questioned on his 'taking' of wild cards. While his ranking has improved quite, so much so that he doesn't really need wild cards that often anymore, Murray was questioned earlier in his comeback for his reliance on wild cards all the time.
He defended it by claiming that he deserved it for everything he did in tennis which is quite possibly true. He's gotten another one recently to enter the ATP 500 event in Dubai which tied him with Tommy Haas for most wild cards received since 1990. This one was a result of him not entering the event on time as he initially didn't play on playing it.
He changed his mind and got a wild card to enter the main draw. The list for more wild cards since 1990 looks like this now:
Andy Murray - 53
Tommy Haas - 53
Goran Ivanisevic - 51
James Blake - 49
Lleyton Hewitt - 45
