Andy Murray defeated David Goffin in an exceptional virtual match and became the 2020 Virtual Madrid Open champion.
Murray and Goffin showed exceptional gaming skills on their way to the final of the
Virtual Madrid Open. Both players lost only 1 game in the group stage and dominated in their quarterfinal matches.
In the semifinal,
David Goffin defeated Stefanos Tsitsipas just in the tie-break. On the other hand, Murray and Schwartzman experienced technical difficulties during their semifinal match. Therefore, both players agreed, that it will be the British player who will meet with the Belgian in the final.
There, we saw a great battle worth a final. Both players held their service games until the 7th game. In that game, Andy managed to take David's service game to get a 4-3 lead. However, the Belgian didn't give up as he broke Murray back and also won his service game.
The British former world number 1, also held his service game and so the score was level once again. Both players refused to be broken again and so the match reached tie-break. For 11 points both players held their service. But then, it was Murray who won another stunning rally to win the match 7-6(5).
