Tennis star Alex De Minaur was asked to create a perfect tennis player using attributes from current or past players, and the Australian's choices could leave many fans divided.
The Sydney native had an impressive 2024 season, winning two titles this year. Furthermore, De Minaur reached the quarterfinals at three consecutive Grand Slam events, Roland Garros, Wimbledon and the US Open. The 25-year old climbed to a career-high ranking of World No.6, before ending his season ranked World No.9.
When asked to use attributes from any tennis players to create his version of the perfect player, De Minaur was diverse in his selection.
“Best forehand, I’m gonna go with [Juan Martin] Del Potro.”
“You know what, I’m gonna go a little bit left field just with all my answers, just because it gets a little bit repetitive. I’m gonna go with [David] Nalbandian."
“I’m gonna go with Jannik [Sinner].”
“I’ll go Nick [Kyrgios].”
“Best tennis brain, I’m gonna go with Roger [Federer].”
Shockingly, De Minaur did not include either Rafael Nadal or Novak Djokovic among his selections. The two legends are members of the Big Three, alongside Roger Federer, with most fans often including an attribute from each of them when building their perfect tennis player.
Nonetheless, De Minaur appears set for the 2025 season. He will lead Australia at the upcoming United Cup, after announcing his engagement to British WTA star, Katie Boulter.
