It has been an interesting 24 hours for Andy Murray and his mother Judy Murray in particular with the latter calling her two word response to Emma Raducanu's withdrawal from mixed doubles alongside her son sarcasm.
Murray's Wimbledon career was unintentionally curtailed by Raducanu's withdrawal with the Brit citing her wrist. She will play to reach the Quarter-Finals in singles today so it is understandable that she can't play.
But it also left Murray in a predicament. He couldn't repartner which means that his Wimbledon career finished earlier in the week alongside brother Jamie Murray facing Rinky Hijikata and John Peers.
Raducanu had given the statement that the wrist was behind her reason to withdraw albeit it didn't go down too well.  “Unfortunately I woke up with some stiffness in my right wrist this morning."
“Therefore I have decided to make the very tough decision to withdraw from the mixed doubles tonight.
“I’m disappointed as I was really looking forward to playing with Andy but got to take care.”
"Astonishing news that Emma Raducanu has withdrawn from her mixed doubles match with Andy Murray," sports presenter Marcus Buckland tweeted."She's citing soreness in her right wrist. It means Murray has played his last match at Wimbledon. Oh dear!"
To which Murray responded: "Yeah astonishing". After backlash, she soon put her account on private albeit opened her account up again to respond to those hitting out at her.
"Not sure anyone understands sarcasm these days. Pretty sure the scheduling (4th match court 1 with a singles following day) will have played a major part in any decision making."
