Former world number one
Andy Murray has teased fellow
countryman
Jack Draper over his recent picture. The 23-year-old recently posted
a picture of his blond hairstyle on his official Instagram account.
Former world number one Murray, who is often regarded as the
greatest British player in the history of men’s tennis in the singles category
after having won as many as three Grand Slam titles, in response to that,
highlighted one white hair and made a teasing comment. “Not sure if you noticed
but I think a bird has 💩 on your hair in that
photo 🙏,” he wrote. In the picture, it can be seen that the
youngster has been gearing up for the upcoming clay court season.
Draper has been going through a mixed campaign. The current
world number seven had a difficult start to his campaign where at the
Australian Open, he was knocked out after being forced to retire from the fourth
round contest because of a fitness concern while facing the former world number
one Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz.
He returned to the court at the Qatar Open where he went all
the way to the final and lost to Russia’s Adrey Rublev with a score of 7-5, 5-7,
6-1. Draper then produced the best tennis of this season at the Indian Wells, where he lifted the ATP 1000 title after beating Denmark’s Holger Rune in the final
in straight sets with a score of 6-2, 6-2. With that win, he became the second British player after Cameron Norrie. He lifted the title in 2021 after
beating Nikoloz Basilashvili in the final with a score of 3-6, 6-4, 6-1. The
celebrations for that victory, however, were short-lived as Draper’s outing at
the next event — the Miami Open — proved to be a disastrous one as he lost to the Czech
Republic’s Jakub Mensik in the round of 64 in straight sets with a score of
7-6, 7-6.
