Novak Djokovic won the PTPA clash in Tel Aviv against Pospisil 7-6(5) 6-3 to move on to the semifinals of the event.
Djokovic faced a lot more opposition today than he did against Andujar and that was largely expected. The Serbian knows Pospisil very well both on and off the court so it's no wonder that the Canadian found a way to frustrate Djokovic in this one.
The first set was rather strong from both players as Pospisil held his own really well against Djokovic not allowing him a single break. That was the crucial part of it because the Serbian is really good in those situations and Pospisil was very good at avoiding giving Djokovic a chance.
We ended up in a tiebreak and there Djokovic finally found some solutions taking it 7-5. It was a timely ramp-up for him as he brought his best there. The second set was a great one as Djokovic saved a break point in the first game of the set. He then broke his opponent in the next game to take a 3-0 lead. To the amazement of the crowd, Djokovic lost the lead and it was 3-3.
He applied heavy pressure on Pospisil at 4-3 crawling his way to a break point. He took it immediately which is why it was so crucial for the Canadian to keep him away from them. A slight chance emerged for Vasek as he was up 30-0 in the next game but four points in a row did the trick with Djokovic moving on to the semi-final.
