Novak Djokovic endured a very disappointing end to his
Olympic Games quest reaching the semifinals in singles and doubles before leaving without a medal.
Djokovic has spoken many times about his desire to win a gold medal for Serbia at the Olympics which is one of the rare things he is missing in his storied career. Tokyo 2020 was Djokovic's best chance to do as he had a clear path towards the medal but he failed to deliver.
After the event, Djokovic briefly spoke to the media where he admitted his devastation with the result as well as battling several injuries throughout the event. The Serbian did not specify much except saying he played under a lot of pain. However, he finally broke his silence writing on Instagram:
"It was a true privilege to represent Serbia at the Olympics. Thank you Tokyo and everyone that helped us come together for the magic of sport. I know in my heart I gave it everything to fight for a
medal, and I’m looking forward to coming back stronger in Paris. This was an unbelievable experience I will never forget. Good luck to all the
Serbian athletes still competing for a medal."
