Novak Djokovic tried to secure a medical exemption for the
Australian Open but according to reports coming from down under he has been denied one.
The Novak Djokovic Australian Open saga continues with recent reports suggesting that he has been denied a medical exemption. News about Djokovic trying to secure one leaked two days ago when Serbian media reported that Tennis Australia was trying to secure one for Djokovic. The reason for that was simple, the event will take a hit without Djokovic attending as he seems unwilling to get vaccinated.
Craig Tiley, the tournament director spoke recently on the matter confirmed that the only way a player can play at the event is if he has been vaccinated or if he secured a medical exemption. It seems like Djokovic was aiming for the 2nd one with Serbian media reporting that he is likely to get one. However, reports from down under are now suggesting he has been denied one.
It also says, that according to a family member, Djokovic is firmly opposed to vetting vaccinated which in theory ends the whole saga. If these reports from Australia are true, Djokovic will not play at the 2022 Australian Open. His troubles don't end there as events such as the Indian Wells Masters and Miami Masters have contemplated with a vaccine mandate as well.
