Djokovic Wimbledon 3
Novak Djokovic is now a 7-time Wimbledon Champion after he proved better than Nick Kyrgios in four sets 4-6 6-3 6-4 7-6(3).
It was a rather interesting clash between Djokovic and Kyrgios but also one we saw many times with Djokovic. The Serbian once again started the match off in a slow rhythm not being able to handle Kyrgios and his upbeat energy. Kyrgios was able to take an early break and comfortably hold it to win the opening set 6-4. He was just better hitting 7 aces and 14 winners overall to only 4 errors.
Djokovic became much more serious in the 2nd set finally finding a good rhythm and solutions. He was able to take an early break and hold it pretty comfortably until 5-3. He faced 0-40 on his serve but proved calm to save four break points overall taking the set 6-3. That moment was the first defining moment of this match because Kyrgios was unable to produce one good rally when he had a break point.
The 3rd set was a good one between the players with both proving rather strong. Djokovic was superb in the final set, quite unplayable but Kyrgios matched it for the most part. He gave it away at 4-4 after being up 40-0 in the game. Compare that to when Djokvoi was down 0-40 and held, Kyrgios was up 40-0 and got broken. Eventually, Djokovic finished off the 4th 6-4.
The final set was one where Djokovic once again proved really good but also quite unplayable at times. Kyrgios was hanging on mainly thanks to his serve with the Serbian patiently waiting for his chance. It came in the tiebreak where the Australian once again folded under pressure losing 3-7.
