Novak Djokovic got his Sprska Open campaign underway with a somewhat indecisive performance but he still got the job done 6-7(4) 6-3 6-2.
Djokovic faced a very talented youngster Luca van Assche in the first match and the start was good. Djokovic held his serve comfortably but he was the first player broken as the first set was drawing to a close. The Serbian broke back when his opponent served for the match but played a horrible tiebreak to still lose the first set.
He played much better in the second set taking an early break and holding it for much of the set. He never found a really great rhythm and didn't play that spectacularly but he remained aggressive often opting to attack his opponent who was rather defensive. It worked quite well as the match went on and eventually, he was able to win the final set as well.
A good win for Djokovic but probably not ideal spending almost three hours on the court.
