A packed day in Barcelona started with Pablo Carreno Busta taking on Diego Schwartzman in the continuation of the match started yesterday with the Spaniard proving better 6-3 6-4.
Both Barcelona Open semifinal matches were abandoned yesterday because of rain and both started at the same time today. In the first one that finished, Pablo Carreno Busta proved better than Diego Schwartzman. Both of them have played rather strong tennis all week long but the Spaniard had a spectacular comeback win over Casper Ruud.
He continued that great run with another strong showing against Schwartzman who had issues keeping up. It was 2-2 when the match got postponed yesterday and upon return today it was Busta who proved better. He served better and generally played much better than his opponent. He was more aggressive and precise and the Argentine was forced to save a couple of break points.
Eventually, Busta got the break late in the set and finished it off with 6-3. The 2nd set featured a much better play by Schwartzman as Busta was a bit struggling. The Argentine had several great chances to take an early break but he failed to convert all of them (4). After that, Busta was able to settle in a nice rhythm and the match was pretty much over.
He broke Schwartzman and finished off the match with 6-4. He will face either Alcaraz or De Minaur later today.
