Philipp Kohlschreiber played the final match of his career on Wednesday after losing to Mikhail Kukushkin in the
Wimbledon qualifiers.
Kohlschreiber announced he was playing the final tournament of his career after beating Gregoire Barrere in his qualifying opener. He had hoped to make it to the main draw of Wimbledon however it was not meant to be as the always tricky Mikhail Kukushkin proved too much to handle.
On Wednesday, Kukushkin recovered from a set down to beat Kohlschreiber 6-7 (4) 6-3 6-4. Kohlschreiber, who turned professional in 2001, spent more than two decades on the Tour. During his career, Kohlschreiber captured eight titles and achieved his career-high ranking of No. 12 in 2012.
