Rising star Arthur Fils from France is not concerned with playing Nadal and he doesn't consider that to be a dream come true with winning the only thing that matters to him.
Fils has enjoyed a really solid finish to the 2022 campaign and looked really sharp at the start of the 2023 season with some amazing performances indoors. The French player is considered a rising star with a bright future but he doesn't think playing Nadal or any other legend of a game is something special. It's certainly not a dream of his unlike for many other young players who like to describe those matches in that way. He did say it would be nice:
"You can't say big dream ... but it would be nice. It is an idol of youth. I watched him win a lot of Grand Slams. I would like to play it in a match. My only goal will be to win if we play but it would be nice yes."
Fils has never played against Nadal but perhaps he'll get a chance later this year with both of them set to take part in many events on the ATP Tour. Nadal's return has not yet been confirmed but it's expected that he'll take part in the Monte Carlo Masters next week.
