Andrey Rublev and Aslan Karatsev have been officially scratched from Team Russia's ATP Cup lineup after testing positive for COVID-19.
Two major pieces of the Russian ATP Cup will not be able to play at the event after testing positive for the Coronavirus. Andrey Rublev tested positive in Barcelona upon arrival from Abu Dhabi and Aslan Karatsev tested positive ahead of his flight to Australia. Neither player will be able to produce a negative test in time to travel and take part in the event.
The news was confirmed on the official ATP Cup page where Team Russian updated its roster for the event. The team now officially has only 3 players left and they are Daniil Medvedev, Roman Safiullin, and Evgeny Karlovskiy. What can the team do in that iteration remains to be seen but it will lean heavily on Medvedev for scoring victories.
The team captain will be Gilles Cervara, the coach of Daniil Medvedev.
