Andrey Rublev reached his 2nd ATP 1000 Masters final after a comeback win over Daniil Medvedev 2-6 6-3 6-4.
The first set was an interesting affair that saw Medvedev established himself early as the better player. Rublev ran into a wall that was hitting back every single ball he sent forward and Andrey ended up committing more mistakes than winners. All of that resulted in Medvedev running away with the first set 6-2.
The 2nd set is where things really got sideways for Medvedev as the Russian hit the camera early in the 2nd set at 1-1. The Russian was visibly upset and proceeded to kick the camera saying he almost broke his hand. He called for a MTO and received help continuing his rant.
He spoke to the supervisor repeating he asked for the camera's to be removed after round 1 but no one listened. His play deteriorated as Rublev was getting more and more confident seeing his opponent struggle. He was able to win a crucial game at 4-3 to take a 5-3 lead and close out the set with 6-3.
Medvedev struggled on his 2nd serve in the 2nd set which Rublev used to his advantage. After more treatment Medvedev was able to find a rhythm once again but so did Rublev. Andrey also got the crowd on his side enjoying the majority of support in the 3rd set.
In the end he was able to break down his opponet thanks to his stellar attacking play from the baseline. Medvedev ran out of gas late and Rublev closed it out with 6-3 for the final.
