Russia’s tennis star Andrey Rublev believes fellow
countryman Daniil Medvedev can become a manager or agent of a pop band.
The world number seven has a history in the world of music and
famously covered a song by English-Irish pop band One Direction.
Talking hypothetically about his mates on the court as a part
of the pop group, Rublev stated that Medvedev can become the agent. “Daniil can
be the agent. Daniil is the manager,” he said.
Rublev was knocked out from the recently concluded US Open
in the quarterfinal after losing to Medvedev in straight sets with a score of
6-4, 6-3, 6-4.
Despite that defeat, the Moscow-born will be pretty
satisfied with his overall performance in the big tournaments this year.
It was the first time in Rublev’s career that he played in
the quarterfinal of three Grand Slams in the same year.
The only competition where he failed to play in the quarters
this year was the French Open where he was knocked out from the third round
after losing to Italy’s Lorenzo Sonego in a five-set thriller with a score of 5-7,
0-6, 6-3, 7-6, 6-3.
