Ruud wins 4th career title in Gstaad

Casper Ruud capped off a great week in Gstaad by winning his 4th career trophy at the 2021 Swiss Open with a 6-3 6-2 win over Gaston.

Ruud has been playing amazing on clay all week long and today he added his 3rd title on clay in 2021. The Norwegian honed his skills at the Rafael Nadal Academy and he learned to play sensational tennis on clay. He confirmed it today by defeating another excellent clay player in Hugo Gaston in the final.

The score suggests a routine win and it was. Ruud almost lost his serve in the first game but after saving 3 break points he got rolling. The Norwegian found his rhythm and outplayed Gaston from the baseline. The French player tried his favourite drop shot a few times but Ruud was ready for it.

After that Gaston simply had no answer to Ruud who was ready for everything. The Norwegian played his game and quickly won the opening set with 6-3. Trouble continued for Gaston in the 2nd set as he could not harm Ruud in any way and the Norwegian just kept piling on the lead.

He took an early break and from there cruised to yet another trophy. A sensational season for Ruud who is earning valuable points in the ATP race where he is hunting a top 8 spot to be in Turin later this year.
