First-seeded Diego Schwartzman and no. 3 in Cordoba, Christian Garin advanced into the semifinals at the 2020 Cordoba Open, followed by Andrej Martin and Laslo Djere.

3 out of the 4 top-seeded players are still in play in Cordoba. The only surprise was when Corentin Moutet defeated second-seeded Guido Pella. Schwartzman, Garin, and Djere all continue their journey at the 2020 Cordoba Open joined by unseeded Andrej Martin.

The player that defeated Pella, Corentin Moutet opened the day against Slovakia's Andrej Martin. The world number 100 in the ATP Ranking from Slovakia continues in a stunning journey in Argentina. He did not lose a set yet and he continued in the same way also against the Frenchman. Martin defeated Moutet 6-3, 6-2 after 92 minutes and reached the first ATP semifinal of the 2020 Season.

In the second match, no. 3 Christian Garin faced the sixth-seeded Pablo Cuevas. The Uruguayan had a superb start to the match. Winning the first set 6-1 gave him an important advantage for the rest of the match, However, Garin showed that he is the favorite of the match when he managed to turn it by winning the second set 6-3 and the third 6-4 to set up the semifinal clash with Martin.

The night of ups and downs for Argentinian fans

The rest of the evening was more interesting for Argentinian fans. First, it was the first-seeded Schwartzman who played his quarterfinal match and he was followed by the eight-seeded Londero. However, only one of the players was successful in front of the home crowd.

It was, of course, the 14th man of the ATP Ranking, Diego Schwartzman. The home crowd favorite did not experience any major difficulties against no. 42 from Spain, Albert Ramos. After winning the first set 6-0, second reached tie-break. But Schwartzman did not hesitate and managed to win it 7-0 to reach the semifinal in Cordoba.

The night of quarterfinals at the Cordoba Open was closed by a stunning three-set match. Juan Ignacio Londero won the first set over Djere 7-5 in the tie-break. However, the Serbian fought back in the second, winning it 6-3. The match did not see a winner after 12 games in the third and so tie-break decided it again. This time, the fourth-seeded player was more successful and booked his semifinal spot after 2 hours and 46 minutes.
