The 2nd semifinal match in Cologne lasted almost two hours and it saw Felix Auger-Aliassime overcome Roberto Bautista Agut with 6-3 1-6 6-3. The opening set started off better for the Canadian who looked quite comfortable on the court and much better in rallies. That good play gave him the early lead even though it would not last long as Bautista fought back to tie it. After that, we saw both of them win a game apiece before Auger-Aliassime stepped up his game to break the Spaniard once more. That was more than enough to win the opening set 6-3. It was a tightly contested were only tiny things made the difference but overall Auger-Aliassime was the better play.
The 2nd set was the exact opposite. Everything that Felix did well in the 1st set he did badly in the 2nd one. Bautista also stepped up his game crushing Felix in rallies. He also served very well which allowed him to win the 2nd set 6-1. It was a terrible set by the Canadian where he barely could win any rally so he wanted to forget it very quickly. The start of the 3rd set suggested he had done just that. A strong opening game followed by a marvellous game on Bautista serve and yet another great game on his own serve meant he was up 3-0 in the final set.
Felix continued playing well with Bautista trying very hard to get back into the match and while he had a chance to do it Felix overcame all of that.
