The ATP and Davis Cup come to an agreement over Men's team competition

For a while, the ATP and Davis Cup could not come to terms with the tennis world having two men's teams competitions in a short span of time

We had the Davis Cup Finals which is the long-standing historic competition with all the prestige and the super-popular ATP Cup which both the players and fans enjoy. The season effectively begins with the ATP Cup and since it concludes with the Davis Cup Finals we have two competitions of a similar format only six weeks apart.

According to the new agreement, the Davis Cup and the ATP will work together on the Davis Cup while the ATP Cup will be replaced by a mixed-teams competition staged by Tennis Australia. It remains to be seen how all of that will look like in practice but it's a step in the right direction as tennis works to be more cohesive between the different Tours and the ITF.
