Juan Martin Del Potro and the Argentine teased Novak about it.
The Serbian player posted a photo on his official Instagram showing him in a plane getting ready to travel to Tokyo. In the caption he wrote:
"Honored to play for my people and my country at the Olympics."
Djokovic will be the top seed at the event and a heavy favourite considering the depleted field and his form in the past two months. Djokovic was practically unbeatable both at Roland Garros and Wimbledon.
Juan Martin Del Potro teased the Serbian by writing a comment on the photo that reads:
"I’ll be watching you! This time you have your chance amigo!"
Del Potro was referencing Djokovic's two defeats to himself at the Olympic Games and how his absence will make it easier for Novak to win the elusive Olympic Medal. Djokovic lost to Del Potro in R1 at the 2016 Olympics and in the Bronze Medal match at the 2012 Olympics.
