Number one seed at the
Winston-Salem Open Pablo Carreno Busta continued his march against former college standout Dominik Koepfer 6-2 6-3.
Carreno Busta is enjoying a very good 2021 season which has gotten a lot better since the Spaniard took down Novak Djokovic for the bronze medal in Tokyo. The Spaniard is playing with a lot of confidence and it's showing on the court. He took on former college standout Dominik Koepfer who is well-versed on North American courts but Busta was too good.
He came out furious in the match taking Koepfer to task early and the German responded. For some time he repelled Carreno but the Spaniard eventually broke him to take a 4-2 lead. Continuing his dominant display on his serve he closed it out with 6-2.
After dropping only one point on his first serve Carreno Busta continued to play well in the 2nd set as Koepfer simply could not match it. The Spaniard took a let and later extended it with continuos, great player, especially in longer rallies.
In the end Carreno Busta closed it out by routinely serving out the set holding on to the lead he built up early. Final score 6-2 6-3 for the Spaniard who gets Ilya Ivashka tomorrow.
