The USA announced its Davis Cup line-up with Ben Shelton and Taylor Fritz at the forefront. The American team will be seeking the title for the first time since 2007, after 15 editions of the tournament without reaching a final. From November 19 to 24, they will be in Málaga looking to end their title drought.
Since the inception of the Davis Cup, the USA has been the most successful nation, boasting 32 titles, and this year they will field a highly competitive team that is generating excitement for a strong performance.
In the recent group stage, the United States did not feature any of its top five singles players and was led by Brandon Nakashima, Reilly Opelka, and Mackenzie McDonald, although none of them were considered this time for the Final 8. The American team defeated Chile, Germany, and Slovakia, with a total of eight wins and just one loss in doubles against the Germans.
Captained by Bob Bryan, the team will face Australia in the quarter-finals. The line-up announced by the multiple Grand Slam champion in doubles includes Taylor Fritz, Ben Shelton, Tommy Paul, and doubles specialists Rajeev Ram and Austin Krajicek—the same duo that defeated Carlos Alcaraz and Rafael Nadal in the quarter-finals of the Olympic Games.
Most team members will have preparation time as this is the last tournament of the year, although Fritz remains in a good position to compete in the ATP Finals (5th in the Race) and, if he qualifies, will participate in the tournament held in Turin from November 10 to 17.
