With the 2024 Wimbledon Championships only a few days away, most tennis players are ramping up their preparations for the only grass court Grand Slam of the season. However,
Gael Monfils took some time off to entertain Danish colleague,
Holger Rune.
The French veteran is one of the most well-liked players on the ATP Tour, and is currently competing at the
Mallorca Championships. Monfils defeated 2020 US Open champion Dominic Thiem in the opening round on Monday, and will face Roberto Carballes Baena for a spot in the quarterfinals.
Monfils leaves Rune stupefied following card trick
The charismatic Frenchman is known for producing entertaining social media content, sometimes alongside his wife, Ukrainian WTA star Elina Svitolina. However, Monfils chose to employ the services of Rune in his newest endeavor.
In a video posted to TikTok, Monfils is seen asking the Danish star to pick a card. After Rune confirms his choice without showing it to the Frenchman, Monfils randomly shuffles the deck. He then proceeds to have Rune pick a numerical position in the deck, to which the former World No.4 complies. Subsequently, Monfils counts the cards till he gets to that position, revealing it to be Rune's card and leaving the 21-year old flabbergasted.
