Although many have criticized
Nick Kyrgios for his lack of effort or attitude on the court, the Australian still has a loving fan base who appreciate him due to his ability to interact with the live crowd.
This was evident in his second round victory over Gianluca Mager on Thursday at the
Wimbledon Championships, in which he prevailed with a 7-6(7) 6-4 6-4 victory. On match point, the Aussie walked up to a lady in the stands and asked her where he should aim his serve. After exchanging words with the lucky fan, Kyrgios hit a huge serve to Mager's backhand, which set him up to win the point and close out the match. The 26-year old proceeded to thank the fan, giving her a match ball as a souvenir.
Always one to engage the crowd, Kyrgios employed a similar tactic at the 2019 Washington Open. He ended the week winning the title, so perhaps this is a sign that the 26-year old will leave the All England Club with his first Grand Slam trophy.
