Gael Monfils is not having the best months of his career when he didn't win a match in almost a year now and seems to struggle with injuries.
The 34-years-old Frenchman had a great start to the 2020 season when he managed to win 2 titles and seemed to be unstoppable also in Dubai where he eventually lost to Novak Djokovic. And that, was the first loss that started it all for Gael Monfils.
Now, it seemed that he might make a good start to the 2021 season as he faced Emil Ruusuvuori as the tenth-seeded at the
Australian Open. However, the talented youngster defeated him in 5 sets and it was another early exit for Monfils. After the match, he broke into tears as he said:
"I would like to get out of this nightmare, but I can't. I play badly, I can't serve, I can no longer make a forehand, I make mistakes. I am 6 meters behind. I have no confidence. I don't feel good, it shows. I don't need to say more."
