Carlos Alcaraz has impressed many with the way he played in Australia earlier this year but it was only the beginning for him.
Since then Alcaraz broke into the top 100 steadily rose over the course of several months. He also won his maiden title in Umag and all of that at the mere age of 18. Many players and analysts have been impressed not only by his rise but also his all-court game that he is showing in New York.
Former world number two and Eurosport tennis analyst Alex Corretja said:
“I believe that the step forward has already been taken. What Alcaraz is doing is stratospheric."
Corretja was most impressed by the courage and belief Alcaraz is showing in himself with every match and every day. He explained it on the example of something Alcaraz said a year ago:
“It amazes me that you asked a 17-year-old boy a year ago his goal for 2021 and he already told you that it was the top 50. He has already [almost] achieved it and has said it openly, which shows his courage.”
