Nick Kyrgios is losing interest in competitive tennis and it's happening at a very fast rate and recent comments made proved just that.
Nick Kyrgios has been very open about his struggles with tennis over the course of the 2021 season explaining several times that his interest in the game is wavering. The Australian expressed multiple times that he is nearing retirement as he does not want to play tennis competitively for many more years. Recent comments he made in his podcast proved just that.
During an episode of the No Boundaries Podcast Kyrgios said:
"I'm happy this way. I love enjoying and doing this sort of stuff (the podcast) with you guys rather than being in Paris right now and playing for the 33rd week of the season".
Kyrgios also spoke about how obsessed he was earlier in his career with tennis saying:
"No one would really believe how I was obsessed. You look at me now, obviously I'm not obsessed as I was. I was like everyday seven hours of trainings and watching plays on youtube. It was never never ending for years. Looking back I think 'WTF was I doing"
Back then Kyrgios was scoring huge victories showcasing himself as one of the hottest talents on the ATP Tour. He would never fully live up to that potential mostly due to a lack of commitment to the game which recent comments prove. How long the Australian stays in tennis remains to be seen but his interest in the game never seemed lower.
