Alexander Zverev was glad to finish his 2022 year with a trophy as it was a rather disappointing year overall, especially with the injury that saw him miss over six months.
This year was supposed to be a major year for Zverev and it ended up being one, just not in the way he had hoped. He was playing some of the best tennis he has ever played on clay this year with a very decent chance of winning the Roland Garros. That was until he injured himself in the match against Nadal.
It was a terrible injury, one that left him unable to play for six months but he was glad to end it with some solid tennis at the World Tennis League Dubai. He was part of the winning team and gets to go home with a trophy. He's happy about that:
“I’m happy that I won something this year. It’s been a rough year for me, obviously I haven’t played in six and a half months, so to finish the year off like that is amazing for me and the whole team."
Up next is the Australian summer where hopes to play himself into a consistent rhytm for the rest of the year.
