Alexander Zverev and Daniil Medvedev confirm participation at the 2022 Diriyah Tennis Cup that will run in the second week of December.
Tennis used to have an offseason but not anymore because most tennis players make their way to the Middle East in December which used to be the offseason. The reason they go there isn't just to prepare for the Australian in outdoor conditions but also take part in several tennis exhibitions.
One of those will be the 2022 Diriyah Tennis Cup in Saudia Arabia and Zverev and Medvedev are the first players announced for this edition. It will be the first time Zverev stood on a court since in a somewhat professional setting since the 2022 Roland Garros.
He released a statement for the event:
"I’m happy that I’ll finally be back on the court after my injury. It’s even nicer that I can make my comeback before the official start of the 2023 season. I think the Diriyah Tennis Cup offers a very good opportunity for it and I’m looking forward to being in Saudi Arabia for the first time."
Medvedev added some words as well:
"Just a quick message to say how happy I am to come back to Diriyah. I still remember my first time there, coming this time to defend the title. It's been really great three years ago, so I'm really looking forward to being there again."
