Alexander Zverev and Novak Djokovic played a great match in the 2021 US Open semifinal that saw the legendary Serbian prevail once again.
The German put in a strong effort but failed to come up with his best tennis in the 5th set where Djokovic dominated. The Serbian once again showcased his class by finding his best tennis when it mattered the most to win the match that brought him closer to history.
Andy Roddick followed the match closely and upon its completion wrote strong words for encouragement for Zverev. He said:
"It might not be this week but I don't think I've ever been more convinced that Zverev will win a slam. What a stand he just made. The level, that game. Wow."
Those were strong words written by Roddick who himself became a US Open champion a long time ago. And indeed Zverev showcased a very high level that would have probably won him the match if he played anyone but Novak Djokovic. However, the German was positive after the match saying he will keep working to achieve what he wants to achieve.
Roddick is a firm believer in Zverev after watching his level the past fortnight and it's only a matter of time when he finally wins one.
