She won no fewer than 18 Grand Slam singles titles in her career, including a record nine titles at Wimbledon. She also won 31 Grand Slam doubles titles and 10 Grand Slam mixed doubles titles, proving her dominance in both singles and doubles. Navrátilová was known for her aggressive playing style, athletic ability and versatility on all surfaces. She defected to the United States in 1975 and later became a U.S. citizen. Her rivalry with Chris Evert marked one of the most iconic periods in women's tennis. Outside of her sports career, she is also known as an advocate for LGBTQ+ rights.
