Taylor
Fritz and
Morgan Riddle share details following break-in attempt at London apartment. World No. 6
Taylor Fritz revealed
that he and his girlfriend were victims of a break-in attempt while on vacation
in London—a frightening experience they shared on Instagram stories.
“At 4am
this morning, Taylor and I wake up to someone trying to enter the code and
break into the front door of the Airbnb we’re staying at in London,” Riddle
posted on Instagram. “I tell Taylor to run and lock the second lock as they’re
standing outside trying to get in and IT’S BEEN REMOVED?” she added.
The
27-year-old influencer criticized Airbnb for being “unsafe” and mentioned that
she’s had multiple bad experiences with the service: “They are intentionally
targeted in many cities. Houses are nice for longer stays, but please just stay
in a hotel, especially if you are traveling alone or only with girls.”
“I swore
I’d never stay in one again after my past experiences and clearly didn’t learn
my lesson,” Riddle wrote. “After we called 999, Taylor got distracted trying to
kill a mosquito and dared the robbers to TRY and square up with him,” she later
joked.
She also
shared a past experience: “In 2017, I stayed in an Airbnb and woke up to a man
standing over me while I was sleeping... This July, I stayed in an Airbnb and
my friend and I walked in on someone actively robbing our house.”
For now,
Fritz is taking some days off before heading to Turin for the upcoming ATP
Finals. The recent US Open runner-up will compete starting November 14 in the
tournament featuring the season’s top eight players. He currently shares a draw
with Jannik Sinner, Carlos Alcaraz, Alexander Zverev, and Daniil Medvedev,
while waiting for confirmation of the final three spots in the tournament.
