Cyclist
Remco Evenepoel imitated the phone celebration of
Ben Shelton after winning the
Figueira Champions Classic 2024. Evenepoel completed the 192-kilometer race (going it alone 53km from the finish),
securing victory and performing the popular gesture of the 21-year-old tennis
player.
Shelton has
not only garnered attention for his exceptional tennis skills but has also
become a fan favorite due to his vibrant personality. The American popularized
his 'dialed-in' celebration, where he mimics talking on the phone and then
slams it down.
Evenepoel,
the 24-year-old Belgian cyclist, delivered a dominant performance, completing
the race in 4 hours, 42 minutes, and 25 seconds, outpacing the second-place
finisher by a minute. Evenepoel's celebration caught the fans' attention,
showcasing the broader influence that Shelton has gained, transcending tennis
to other sports.

Celebration
The
eye-catching gesture performed by Shelton after matches was explained during
the 2023 US Open after defeating Frances Tiafoe in the quarterfinals. Shelton
shared: "For me, it's kind of like I'm saying I'm dialed in," Shelton
said. "That's what it is for me."
"I'm
really close friends with a lot track & field athletes who train at the
University of Florida. One in particular, Grant Holloway, who's won the World
Championships like 3 years in a row now.. that's kind of his signature thing.
He just won the world championships, so congrats to him," he added.
