The Hopman Cup was an international competition where 8 mixed-gender teams competed between the years 1989 and 2019.

The Hopman Cup was founded in 1989 in Perth. The last edition was in 2019, as the competition was replaced by the ATP Cup in 2020. In the first edition of the competition, 8 countries fought for the title. Those were; Czechoslovakia, Japan, Yugoslavia, Sweden, West Germany, France, United Kingdom, and Australia. The Czechoslovakian duo Helena Suková and Miroslav Mečíř became the first champions when they defeated the Australians in the final.

Many other countries lifted the trophy in the following 30 years. Croatia, Yugoslavia, Poland, Russia, South Africa all lifted the trophy once. France, Australia, and Germany were champions for 2 times. The Czech Republic lifted the title in Australia 3 times (including 1 victory as Czechoslovakia). Spain, Switzerland, and Slovakia were all champions 4 times (including 1 victory for Slovakia as Czechoslovakia). But there was one country that dominated the competition, and that was the United States. Up to 10 athletes secured 6 trophies for the team of the United States. Only Serena Williams and James Blake recorded a victory twice.

Although Arantxa Sanchez Vicario, James Blake, Serena Williams, Dominik Hrbaty, Tommy Robredo and Belinda Bencic were champions twice, there is one athlete that was more successful than any other at the Hopman Cup. That can be nobody else than the Maestro, Roger Federer. The Swiss lifted his first trophy already in 2001 with Martina Hingis. Then he played also in 2002 and 2017, but he was not so successful until the next year. In both 2018 and 2019, Federer teamed up with Belinda Bencic to win 2 consecutive titles at the Hopman Cup that was not achieved by any other duo. The year 2019 meant the third title for Roger what made him the most successful athlete at the Hopman Cup.
