Day Three at the Australian Open wraps up the first round and will see the debut of the remaining players in the draw. Daniil Medvedev, Elena Rybakina, Holger Rune, Emma Navarro, and Andrey Rublev are set to headline another action-packed day at Melbourne Park.

Rod Laver Arena

The day opens with World No. 8 Emma Navarro in an all-American clash against 23-year-old Peyton Stearns (No. 47), who is seeking her first win at the Australian Open. They have met several times on the ITF circuit and once at the WTA level, with Navarro leading their head-to-head 4-1.

Next up is three-time finalist Daniil Medvedev (No. 5) starting his Melbourne campaign against Thailand’s Kasidit Samrej (No. 418). The Russian is the clear favourite against an inexperienced opponent, offering a good chance to find his rhythm in his season-opening match.

The night session begins with local favourite Alex de Minaur, the tournament’s 8th seed, facing Botic van de Zandschulp (No. 82). De Minaur is the highest-ranked Australian – across both men's and women’s draws – and is seen as the home nation’s top contender.

The final match at the main stadium features 22-year-old Aussie Olivia Gadecki (No. 106) taking on former World No. 9 Veronika Kudermetova (No. 77). With home-crowd support, Gadecki will be a tough opponent for the Russian, who has been far from her best form.

Margaret Court Arena

Former World No. 4 Holger Rune (No. 13) opens play against the dangerous Chinese player Zhizhen Zhang (No. 47), followed by 2023 runner-up Elena Rybakina (No. 6) facing 18-year-old rising Aussie star Emerson Jones (No. 371).

The night session sees 4th seed Jasmine Paolini taking on Chinese qualifier Sijia Wei (No. 119). The Italian aims to defend her fourth-round result from last year and maintain the form that led her to two Grand Slam finals in 2024. Andrey Rublev (No. 9) closes the day against teenage sensation Joao Fonseca (No. 113), who is on a 13-match winning streak and looks ready to make an impact on the big stage.

John Cain Arena

World No. 9 Daria Kasatkina begins the action against Viktoriya Tomova (No. 56), in their first-ever encounter. Kasatkina, who re-entered the top-10 late last season, needs to prove her worth at the majors after a disappointing third-round finish at Wimbledon in 2024. Next is an intriguing match between Taylor Fritz (No. 4) and Jenson Brooksby (protected ranking No. 52), making his return after an 18-month suspension.

Later in the day, Madison Keys (No. 20) faces fellow American Ann Li (No. 91). The former US Open runner-up enters in good form after winning the Adelaide International title by defeating Jessica Pegula in the final. The session concludes with 2024 Canadian Open champion Alexei Popyrin (No. 25) facing talented Frenchman Corentin Moutet (No. 69).

Other key matches to watch include Matteo Berrettini vs Cameron Norrie, Ben Shelton vs Brandon Nakashima, Emma Raducanu vs Ekaterina Alexandrova, and Anhelina Kalinina vs Ons Jabeur. Check out the full Day Three schedule below.
