Today in our Daily Dose
of Social Media, we review the most significant activities and
Entertainment
from ATP and WTA players.
Rafael
Nadal is ready for his final event in the Davis Cup and has already arrived in
Malaga for the series against the Netherlands. The 22-time Grand Slam champion
was welcomed by Captain
David Ferrer.
On the
other hand,
Katie Boulter had a hilarious moment after giving her 'acceptance
speech' for the Couple Goals award, which was presented to her boyfriend Alex
De Minaur the day before at the ATP Finals. While finishing the Round Robin
phase in Turin,
Jannik Sinner was seen with a relaxed warm-up before his match
against
Daniil Medvedev.
Ferrer welcomes
Nadal to Malaga ahead of Davis Cup Finals
Rafael
Nadal has arrived in Malaga for the Davis Cup Finals, where he received a warm
welcome from Spain’s captain, David Ferrer. The 22-time Grand Slam champion has
spent recent weeks training at the Rafa Nadal Academy, preparing for what will
be his final professional tournament, starting next week in Malaga. The
38-year-old will team up with Carlos Alcaraz, Roberto Bautista Agut, Pedro
Martinez, and Marcel Granollers for the quarterfinal series against the
Netherlands.
There’s
still uncertainty about whether Nadal will play as the second singles player
behind “Carlitos” (Alcaraz) or focus solely on doubles, a decision Captain
Ferrer will make after assessing Nadal’s performance in team training. Ferrer
and coach Carlos Moya greeted Nadal at the airport upon his arrival. The moment
was shared on social media and even commented on by Jasmine Paolini, who is
also in the city for the Billie Jean King Cup Finals: “I need a selfie 🤳🤣🤣🤣”
Djokovic seen
meditating on tennis court
Although
Djokovic has officially ended his season, he hasn’t completely stepped away
from the tennis courts—this time, though, without his racket. The Serbian star
recently appeared in a video by user Ari_fararooy, showing the 24-time Grand
Slam champion meditating in the middle of a tennis court.
Despite
being on vacation, Djokovic still has a few commitments to attend, albeit off
the court. Recently, he was seen at the Belgrade Open trophy ceremony, where he
presented the champion’s trophy to Denis Shapovalov. Djokovic also mentioned
that he will attend Rafa Nadal’s farewell at the Davis Cup next week, and in
early December, he’s set to participate in Juan Martin Del Potro’s farewell
exhibition in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Tomljanovic builds her ultimate WTA Player - Featuring Serena, Sharapova, and more
Alja
Tomljanovic created her perfect WTA player. The Australian tennis player, who
appeared at the recent WTA Merida two weeks ago, spoke on the Instagram account
“Hablemos de Tenis” about the shots she would choose from other players. The
former world No. 32 picked
Serena Williams’s forehand and her own backhand,
along with shots from both historic and current players, including Maria
Sharapova, Ash Barty, and
Elena Rybakina. Discover Tomljanovic’s selections in
the following video.
Boulter’s hilarious
acceptance speech for the ‘Couple goals award’
Katie
Boulter joked about an acceptance speech for the ‘Couple Goals Award.’ A day
earlier, the ATP shared a video of
Alex De Minaur during the ATP Finals in
Turin, where he received a ‘Social Award’ for the great year he had alongside
his partner Boulter, with both winning ATP/WTA 500 titles.
Although
Boulter is currently in Malaga for the Billie Jean King Cup, she was asked
about her feelings after receiving the award with her boyfriend, which made the
British No. 1 laugh. “This is a moment I’ve been waiting for my whole life,”
Boulter joked, starting to laugh. “I need a minute,” she added as she tried to
stop laughing.
“I mean, I
think I need to take my fake trophy and bring it here. I’m obviously really
proud of this one. This is the one we’ve been aiming for,” she continued. “It
really means so much; it’s going to go straight home onto the mantelpiece in
front of all two trophies that we both got this year.”
Sinner’s relaxation before facing Medvedev
World No. 1
Jannik Sinner claimed his third consecutive victory at the ATP Finals after
defeating Daniil Medvedev in straight sets (6-3, 6-4). The Italian completed
the Round Robin phase with wins over Alex De Minaur and Taylor Fritz as well,
advancing to the semifinals as the undisputed leader of the Ilie Nastase Group,
now waiting to learn his opponent after Day 6 concludes.
Just before
his comfortable win over Medvedev, Sinner enjoyed a playful warm-up with his
team, where he was seen amusing himself with a ball. At one point, Sinner
kicked the small soccer ball, sending it up to hit the gym ceiling, sparking
laughter from his entire team. Find the video at the link below.
Wozniacki
and Rune share insights in joint interview
Caroline
Wozniacki and
Holger Rune joined Danish presenter Peter Falktoft for a joint
interview. The former world No. 1 and the 2022 Paris Masters champion are the
top stars Danish tennis has produced, and despite being from different eras
(Wozniacki, 34, and Rune, 21), they have often shown mutual respect. The young
talent has frequently cited Wozniacki as one of his inspirations.
The former
Australian Open champion shared a clip from the interview on her social media,
where she was asked how happy she considers herself as a tennis player: “I
don’t know if I am the happiest tennis player, but I like to think that I am
enjoying life pretty well. I’m also very satisfied with the life that I have
chosen,” said the former world No. 1. “I just love to be out there on the court
with thousands of people, so I honestly think it’s the most amazing thing.”
