Kei Nishikori ends the 2019 season as the number 13 in the ATP Ranking and for the 2020 season he hired Max Mirnyi to join his coaching team.

Nishikori played only 43 matches during the 2019 season out of which he managed to win 29. Winning the title in Brisbane, kept Nishikori in the TOP 15 in the year-end ranking. He announced that Max Mirnyi will be joining his coaching team on his Instagram account saying:
“Excited to announce that Max Mirnyi will join the coaching team (with Michael Chang) full-time in 2020! Excited what the future holds.”
Mirnyi is a former doubles world number one and he played almost 2000 matches in singles and doubles combined on the ATP Tour. About coaching Nishikori, Miryni said:
”I am excited about the opportunity to have a chance and help Kei. I have known Kei for a long time from the days of my active playing career. Training and spending a lot of time at the IMG Academy in Bradenton. So, I hope that this progression will be natural for both of us personally and on a professional level.”
