Tennis star Emma Raducanu may be one of the most popular players in Britain, but that hasn't prevented her from receiving backlash due to alleged violations of the dress code at the All England Club.
Wimbledon has a very strict dress code, which permits players to wear only white outfits during the two week Grand Slam tournament. However, not many are aware that this rule is enforced for everyone who plays there throughout the year.
According to a report by the Daily Mail, Raducanu deliberately broke the rule when she practiced on the grounds prior to last year's Grand Slam event. It was stated that the former US Open champion wore a pink outfit instead, similar to what she donned during most of the 2024 WTA season.
"It's so unfair," said an anonymous member of the All England Club. "Emma rocks up in a pink outfit while everyone else respects the all-white rule. Who does she think she is? Just because she's won the US Open doesn't mean she can wear whatever she wants."
Wimbledon already relaxed its previously strict code in 2023. Female players are now allowed to wear dark-colored undergarments if they wish, easing previous concerns that some had about what might happen while on their periods.
Raducanu has had a subpar start to the 2025 season. After defeating Amanda Anisimova to reach the third round of the 2025 Australian Open, the former World No.10 has lost six of her last seven matches, with her latest being a defeat to Moyuka Uchijima at the 2025 Indian Wells Open.
