Nick Kyrgios has been one of the more vocal players around COVID-19 particularly in accountability issues and this time he slammed Zverev.
Sascha Zverev has been part of the highly publicized
Adria Tour which left
several player's positive to
Coronavirus including
Grigor Dimitrov and
Novak Djokovic and he now did another selfish act. He himself tested negative alongside
Dominic Thiem and after the scare, the German said he would self-isolate as a precaution. It appears as if that was merely a PR stunt considering that Zverev was caught not even a week later socializing amongst a large group of people at a party.
There are numerous shots of him and it's undeniably him, so Kyrgios once again didn't shy away from criticizing his colleague. Kyrgios spoke about the incident using the story feature on the popular social media platform Instagram. The full transcript of what he said will be posted below but be advised it contains strong language:
“So I wake up and I see more controversial things happening all over the world. But one that stuck out for me was seeing (Sasha) Zverev again man, again, again, how selfish can you be? How selfish can you be? I mean, if you have the audacity to put out a f—ing tweet that you made your management write on your behalf saying you are going to self isolate for 14 days and apologizing to f—ing general public for putting their health at risk, at least have the audacity to stay inside for 14 days. My god. Have your girlfriend with you for f—ing 14 days. Jesus, man. It pisses me off. This tennis world pisses me off. How selfish can you all get?”
Several other players commented on the situation as well but Kyrgios is by far the most well-known. It's a pretty big deal considering the ongoing struggles with the Coronavirus pandemic.
A video of the reaction will be posted below.
