The WTA tour will be making it's debut in Merida, Mexico, which will play host to the 2023
Merida Open Akron from February 20-26.
A WTA 250 event, the tournament will feature 2017 US Open champion
Sloane Stephens as the top seed. Joining the American are a pair of players who made breakthroughs at the 2023
Australian Open, with Poland's
Magda Linette reaching the semifinals and Croatia's
Donna Vekic making the quarterfinals.
The always-dangerous
Camila Giorgi is scheduled to compete, as well as doubles World No.1 Katerina Siniakova. American Alison Riske will be hoping to bounce back after a disappointing start to the season, alongside the German duo of Jule Niemeier and Tatjana Maria.
The event will feature a 32-woman singles draw and a 16-player doubles field. Below is the list of entrants.
