Ex-coach of former world number one Serena Williams, Rennae Stubbs, believes that Goran Ivanisevic will not accept Stefano Vukov's return to the coaching staff of Elena Rybakina.
The 25-year-old has been in the news lately because of her coaching staff’s situation. Not so long ago, Rybakina sacked her former coach, Vukov, and hired the former coach of Serbia’s legendary tennis star, Novak Djokovic. However, in an interesting turn of events, Rybakina decided to bring her former coach back on board. However, the move fell through as it was reported that the WTA was investigating the 37-year-old's conduct and had already handed him a provisional ban.
It is not clear whether the one-time Grand Slam winner Ivanisevic was on board with Rybakina's decision. Ex-coach of the former world number one Serena, Stubbs, in her own podcast recently, talked in detail about the actions of the world number six regarding her coaching staff. Stubbs was of the opinion that the 53-year-old would not accept seeing Vukov back in the coaching staff.
"Clearly she is struggling with this relationship with him, whatever that may be, and wanting to bring him back,” said Stubbs. “I can tell you right now, Goran's not going to stand for it. Absolutely not. If you want to be in a dysfunctional relationship, that's on you, but for someone like Goran, he's not going to stick around for that.”
Most recently, Ivanisevic has been recently quoted in a report where he stated that he is working with Rybakina for now. “It's a very strange situation. So, I don't want to, really. I can talk to you after WTA makes the decision, and then we can,” he said. “ What's going to happen in a couple of days, I don't know. But for the moment, I am here. Hopefully I will stay, and hopefully everything is going to be OK. But let's take day by day.”
