Former world number 18
Alison Riske has revealed
that she is becoming a mother for the fourth time. The 33-year-old announced the development
in a creative post on her social media platform Instagram.
Interestingly, Riske, who participated in the Summer
Olympics in 2021 and represented the United States, will be giving birth to her
fourth child in July when the Paris Olympics will be taking place this year.
The Pennsylvania-born has not retired from professional
tennis but has not played any professional tennis since Wimbledon in 2023. In
that competition, she was knocked out after losing in the round of 128 to Spain’s
Paula Badosa in straight sets with a score of 6-3, 6-3.
Riske has not announced any plans to return to professional
tennis soon. Till now, she has won three WTA titles in her career.
However, her record while playing at Grand Slams does not
make a pretty reading. Till now, despite appearing in the main round of a mega-event
42 times, she has only managed to get past the fourth round only once.
Her best appearance in a Grand Slam came in the 2019 edition
at Wimbledon where she was knocked out after losing in the quarterfinal to the
former world number one and America’s legendary tennis star Serena Williams
with a score of 6-4, 4-6, 6-3.
