A couple of players moved on in the WTA event in Guadalajara with Bianca Andreescu beating Pliskova and Andreescu Kvitova.
The Wimbledon champion Rybakina took on Pliskova who has been struggling with her form for a while and she delivered a sturdy performance to take the match in two sets. Rybakina dominated play with her heavy groundstroke producing a huge serving effort with 9 aces as well.
Pliskova once again squandered her chances and the biggest one came in the opening set when she served for the set at 5-4. In tie tiebreak, Rybakina took over and cruised to a strong finish. Bianca Andreescu also moved on and she played a Czech player as well.
Petra Kvitova was her opponent and she played rather well to start the match giving Andreescu some problems. Kvitova even took the opening set and it seemed like she was in a good spot to try and win the match against a player who was playing solid tennis.
Unfortunately for her, Andreescu found some inspiration and stormed back to take the second set 6-2 and smash Kvitova 6-0 in the final one.
