Just 26 games were enough for players from Australia and France to earn one point each during the first day of play of Fed Cup final.
Kristina Mladenovic and Alja Tomljanovic were the first two players to kick-off the Fed Cup final. It was a really quick match as Mladenovic managed to win comfortably 6-1 and 6-1 in just an hour and 13 minutes.
But there was still
world number one Ashleigh Barty to save the day for Australia. Barty outplayed Garcia 6-0 and 6-0 in just 58 minutes and became the first player to win a match 6-0 and 6-0 in the Fed Cup final. After the first day of play, Australia and France are tied 1-1. Barty said after her match:
"This is remarkable," said Barty, in her on-court post-match interview. "I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect match. I think that’s probably the best tennis match I’ve ever played in my life, and what a place to do it, this is incredible. I’m so happy to be back here in Perth. I started my year here, so it’s a hell of a way to finish it off too."
