The WTA event in Doha is shaping up to be the strongest non-grand slam event on the calendar as the entry list looks crazy, even more after several players opted to play the event.
Maria Sakkari didn't plan to play it initially but the Greek player is going to be in Doha after she was awarded a wild card entry into the event. Victoria Azarenka also got a wild card entry as did Sofia Kenin. The decision comes after several players withdrew from the event such as Sabalenka, Jabeur, and Kontaveit.
The qualifying draw also looks crazy as it had players like Rybakina, Andreescu, and Muguruza however all of them withdrew from it this week. It's still pretty strong overall with Pliskova, Bouzkova, and Teichmann in the draw and they are all ranked in the top 50.

Meanwhile, Victoria Azarenka (2 times champion), Sofia Kenin and Ipek Oz received main draw wild cards for the Doha WTA 500. Zheng received a special exempt for reaching the semifinals in Abu Dhabi. Sabalenka, Jabeur, Kontaveit withrew from main draw during this week.
