It was an all-Aussie clash on the
Wimbledon Centre Court and
Ashleigh Barty is through to the semifinal over Tomljanovic 6-1 6-3.
Barty is enjoying her best ever run at Wimbledon reaching the semifinal after defeating Ajla Tomljanovic 6-1 6-3. It was a spectacular performance from Barty taking down her fellow Aussie in a little over an hour. The first set was impressive by Barty as she faced only one break point in the entire set which she won by 6-1.
It's impressive because she only hit 25 % of her first serves while also committing more errors than hitting winners. She was helped by Tomljanovic who was all over the place with only one winner and 8 unforced errors.
The 2nd set was a lot more competitive and closer than the result might suggest. Tomljanovic jumped out to an early 1-0 lead after breaking Barty but Ash pulled it right back. Barty then took the lead 4-1 with some stellar play but at 4-2 Tomljanovic was finally able to break her.
However, another lacklustre serving game from Tomljanovic proved her doom as she lost her serve once again. In the end, Barty served it out with 6-3. Tomljanovic did not play a good match at all as she simply could not find the court. 20 errors to 5 winners will get you in trouble against anyone let alone Barty.
