Coco Gauff has become an investor in Unrivaled, a pioneering professional women’s basketball league. Founded in 2023 by Napheesa Collier and Breanna Stewart, Unrivaled aims to allow WNBA players to compete nationally while avoiding complications from the WNBA’s prioritization rules for those playing overseas during the off-season.

The league has received strong backing, raising over $28 million in Series A funding, in addition to the $7 million secured in its initial funding round at its launch.

“I’m thrilled to be joining Unrivaled as an investor,” said Coco Gauff. “Basketball is one of my favorite sports, and the chance to support a league that’s redefining the game is exciting. I look forward to being part of this movement and continuing to help elevate women’s sports to new heights.”

Unrivaled will feature a three-on-three format played on a smaller full court compared to the WNBA. Games will consist of four quarters lasting seven minutes each.

Gauff is not the only star investing in the initiative, which boasts a roster of prominent basketball players, athletes from other sports, and even Hollywood figures. Investors include Alex Morgan, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Carmelo Anthony, Michael Phelps, Dawn Staley, Ashton Kutcher, Mila Kunis, and business leaders like Moira Forbes and Gary Vaynerchuk.
